    Masked men shootout in Cayon

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST 15 hours after a man was shot in Trafalgar Village, Basseterre, Police are once again busy investigating a shooting incident that occurred today in Upper Cayon.

     

    According to information reaching SKNVibes, sometime between 1230 and 1300 hours, three masked dressed in dark clothing and armed with Assault Rifles fired a volley of shots at a group of young men who were seated on benches under a tree in an area known as the ‘’Circus’ in Upper Cayon.

    Eyewitnesses claimed that some of the intended victims immediately ran into a nearby shop while others sought refuge in homes within the same vicinity.

     

    This media house learnt that no one was injured, but a Police release stated bullets from the Assault Rifles damaged a car that was parked in the area as well as a door and window of a nearby shop.

     

    It further stated that the gunmen ran away from the scene and headed in the direction of Whyte’s Village.

    Shortly after the incident, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, reinforced with over a section of soldiers, arrived on the scene. Traffic was disrupted for a short while as the investigative team combed the area and secured several pieces of evidence.

     

    No one was arrested but investigations are ongoing.   ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    Meanwhile, the Police revealed that the person shot last night in Trafalgar Village is Raphael Garnette of Challengers Village and he is currently warded in the Joseph N France General Hospital nursing a gunshot wound to his arm.

     

    According to the Police, at about 9:30 p.m. security officers responded to a report of shooting in Trafalgar Village and investigations revealed that while Garnette and a group of men were in the Western Hero Bar, two armed masked men entered and demanded they handed over everything in their possession.

     

    Garnette refused to comply with the demand and struck one of the masked men with a bottle. Consequently, the masked man shot Garnette and he and his accomplice made good their escape by running in the general direction of Lime Kiln.

    Police investigations into this incident are also ongoing.
