BASSETERRE- St. Kitts – TWO brothers from Stone Fort Estate in Challengers were recently charged with the murder of Kevaughn Pemberton, the missing Old Road man.

According to a police press release, the two men charged with Pemberton’s murder are Keithroy and Kenrick Phillip.

This media house was somewhat baffled at the contents of the press release, knowing that Pemberton was reported missing since the evening of Monday, June 18, 2012 and there was no report of him being killed.

However, when contacted this morning (July 11), Police Press and Public Information Officer Inspector Lyndon David told this publication that investigations had led to the two brothers’ arrest and evidence, which he was not permitted to disclose, indicates that Pemberton was murdered even though his remains were not found.

He also said that investigators are working assiduously to find Pemberton’s remains and the police would leave no stone unturned.
The 23-year-old Pemberton went missing sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the day in question.

One of his relatives who spoke with this publication explained that he had left his sister’s home at Hermitage Road, Old Road at about 9:30 that evening, but he did not indicate where he was going.

The relative also indicated that attempts were made to contact him via his cellular telephones but both had appeared to be turned off.

According to the relative, he was last seen wearing a black shirt and a pair of camouflage three-quarter-length pants.

Other information reaching this publication suggested that the young man is dark in complexion, thick in body, has a scar on his left hand just above his elbow and had his hair braided in “single thick plaits”.

Pemberton has been the third man to have gone missing just under 11 weeks and he is the second one to have been declared dead.

The first missing man is 17-year-old Dylon Clarke of Church Ground, Nevis who was last seen on Saturday, April 28, 2012, while the second man of the same age, Jakeel Alford of Willets Project in St. Paul’s Village, went missing on Thursday, June 7, 2012 but his burnt and dismembered remains were found in an 180-foot well in the White Gate area on Thursday, June 14, 2012.

Judging from the police’s findings, Pemberton’s death has taken to 12 the number of murders committed in the twin-island Federation for the year; 10 on St. Kitts and two on Nevis.
