ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, July 11, 2012 – The Management of LIAT (1974) Limited refers to numerous media reports regarding LI 369 en route to the Princess Juliana Airport in St. Maarten on July 02.
LIAT wishes to clarify that an engine on one of its aircraft experienced a malfunction during the flight.
The crew followed standard procedure and shut down the affected engine before safely landing at the airport.
The landing was uneventful and passengers were accommodated on another service later that evening.
The aircraft was examined by the company’s maintenance staff and underwent various checks as stipulated by the manufacturer’s maintenance manual and has since been returned to service.
