BASSETERRE St. Kitts, July 19th, 2012 -- Four (4) students joined the St. Kitts Schools’ Apex Co-operative Society Limited Academic Excellence Awards Hall of Fame on Tuesday, 17th July, 2012. Present at the awards ceremony held at the Sales Outlet on Princes Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts, were, Mr. Francil A. Morris, President of St. Kitts Schools’ Apex Board of Directors, Mr. L. Antonio Wilson, Manager and Mrs. Deslyn Browne, Store Clerk of St. Kitts School’s Apex Sales Outlet, Awardees & their parents and patrons.
Receiving awards were:
Mathematics - Ta-Jaroh Stapleton – Dr. William Connor Primary School
Keitishna Edwards – Tucker Clarke Primary School
Gariel Bowry – Sandy Point Primary School
Language Arts - Keyshawa Headley – Josiah Obedeah Williams Primary School
Social Studies - Gariel Bowry – Sandy Point Primary School
Science - Gariel Bowry – Sandy Point Primary School
Mr. Francil A. Morris congratulated the awardees for their excellent performance during the 2012 Test of Standards examination, noting that some of the awardees received a perfect score (100%) in Mathematics. He further encouraged the awardees to use the tools given by his organization to assist in their academic pursue to their advantage, be punctual for school, pay attention to their teachers, choice their friends wisely, respect themselves and others at all times so that they can continue to make their family, country and more importantly themselves proud of the accomplishments.
Mr. Morris impressed upon the parents to use every resource available to their disposal to assist in their child’s education. He reminded them that being an exemplary stakeholder in the education system of St. Kitts and Nevis would result in greater achievements in the future for their child. Each awardee was then presented with a
certificate and voucher.
St. Kitts Schools’ Apex Society Limited Academic Excellence Award
This award is designed to reward outstanding performances by members only of the School Savings Co-operatives in Primary schools on St. Kitts. It rewards the best performances by member students in the Department of Education Test of Standards at the Grade Six (6) levels in four (4) subject areas. These are Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
Each Primary school submits the names and the highest mark in each of the four (4) subject areas. These are compared and winners announced - one winner per subject area. Each winner receives a certificate and a Three Hundred Dollars ($300) voucher redeemable at the Schools’ Apex Co-operative Sales Outlet in Basseterre. The award was introduced in 2004.
