ST. JOHN'S Antigua, July 17th, 2012 -- A two week workshop focusing primarily on reviewing the Regional Examination for Nurse Registration (RENR) is currently underway at the City View Hotel in St. John’s.
The workshop is being conducted by the Regional General Nursing Councils and aims to look closely at the examination which allows for nurses to enter the profession once they have been successful. The examination measures a nurse’s competency at the onset of their practice.
Principal Nursing Officer Elnora Warner, who is also Co-facilitator of the Workshop, said the Regional Examination for Nurse Registration is a product of the regional nursing body and their main objective is to maintain high standards of nursing throughout the region.
Warner went on to clarify that contrary to popular belief, the RENR is not for student nurses but rather for nurses at the entry level of the profession. She said that nurses desirous of practicing in the region must be successful at the RENR.
Territories participating in the two week workshop are: host country Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
