Federation records 13th murder

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN altercation between two men that occurred today (July 25) has left one dead and the other in police custody.

     

    Dead is 22-year-old Chelston ‘Chelly’ Mills of Newton Ground who allegedly died from a fatal stab to the upper left side of his chest.

     

    According to residents of Newton Ground, the fight which ensued between Mills and the suspect began in a building on the main road and continued for a sometime before the stabbing occurred.

     

    One resident also said that the police were called but never showed until one hour after.

     

    The cause of the fight is unknown.

     

    Upon arrival at the scene, SKNVibes met the lifeless body of Mills lying face-up on a road known to many Newton Ground residents as ‘Back Road’, which is situated near to the railway line.

     

    Persons said they tried to provide assistance to the victim by placing a shirt under his head and another by his wound to stop the bleeding, but said there was a “big hole” in his chest.

     

    Crime Scene Technicians of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force processed the scene and investigations are ongoing.

     

    Mills death has taken to 13 the number of murders committed in the twin-island Federation for the year; 11 on St. Kitts and two on Nevis.
