    Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 14, 2005): The way forward for the St. Kitts Music Festival was charted at a retreat at the Bird Rock Beach Hotel over the weekend.
    The retreat, which was attended by committee chairpersons, staff members and stakeholders, was facilitated by Senator Sandra Husbands of Business Development Services Incorporated of Barbados.
     
    Senator Husbands revealed that areas such as marketing, improving efficiency, overcoming resource limitations, performance and accountability, increasing revenue and reducing costs.
     
    A wide cross section of committee members and stakeholders from the public and private sector attended the March 11 and 12 session.
     
    The Barbadian consultant explained that she was very impressed with the level of participation. I saw a lot of creativity emerge in terms of the kind of problem solving skills that were used & and the thoroughness that was used to address a particular issue, she said.
     
    One suggestion from the session covered the enhancement of partnerships with the private sector, while another centred on the commercialization or privatizing of various activities such as merchandising.
     
    Allister Williams, Executive Director of the St. Music Festival explained that the recommendations from the workshop  which he described as critical  will be used to strengthen the planning, organizing and staging of the festival.
     
    Most of the recommendations will be compiled & and sent to Cabinet for consideration, he stressed, adding that the Music Festival committee will also be implementing suggestions to strengthen the 2005 event and future undertakings.
