    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 15TH 2005 
     Former Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, Mrs. Jacinth Henry-Martin has been appointed Deputy High Commissioner to the St. Kitts and Nevis High Commission in London, England.
    Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon during his monthly Press Conference.
     
    As Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs. Henry-Martin is responsible for United Kingdom-CARICOM Trade and Development Issues, Consular Affairs, Trade and Investment and will interact with our nationals resident in the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Douglas said.
     
    He said that Mrs. Henry-Martin, who speaks French and Spanish fluently, will be in charge of the management and personnel of the High Commission during the absence of the High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. James Williams.
     
    Mrs. Henry-Martin served as Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #5 (Sandy Point, Fig Tree and La Valle) from March 2000 to October 2004. She is a former Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, a former Director of Culture, a Modern Language Teacher in St. Kitts and Anguilla and Director General of the Seventh Caribbean Festival of Arts.
     
    Prime Minister Douglas also announced the appointments of two Ambassadors to serve the people of St. Kitts and Nevis in the persons of His Excellency Mr. Walford Gumbs, former Speaker of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly and Her Excellency, Ms. Rosalyn Hazelle.
     
    Mr. Gumbs will be attached to the Office of the Prime Minister and Ms. Hazelle will be attached to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Both will be non resident and will be stationed here in St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    Ms. Hazelle is the first Kittitian female to be appointed to the rank of Ambassador in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
