Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 17, 2005): The business sector is being invited to play a greater role in the St. Kitts Music Festival.
The festivals management committee met on Wednesday to discuss ways to move from a sponsorship-based relationship to a more partnership-oriented association. This move was taken as a follow-up to a recommendation made at a two-day retreat held at the Bird Rock Beach Hotel on the weekend. The session was organized to increase efficiency and maximize the potential of the Music Festival.

Executive Director Allister Williams explained that opportunities are available for interested individuals or agencies to obtain a license to produce various paraphernalia and memorabilia for the June 23 to 26 event.

Its an open invitation, he told SKNIS. Anyone who has an interest in producing and/or marketing music festival related merchandise are encouraged to submit an expression of interest in writing to the Festivals Secretariat.

Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the secretariat at Port Zante as soon as possible for additional information. An application deadline has been set for Thursday, March 24, 2005.

This is an excellent opportunity for our t-shirt manufacturers, graphic designers, belt producers, craft vendors, bag makers and a host of other business persons to expand their market, Williams stressed, noting the wide merchandising appeal of the festival. Even the snow-cone vendors can take advantage of this lucrative avenue.
