Rotary Club of Liamuiga’s Dance Xplosion – apply today

    Basseterre, St. Kitts – The Rotary Club of Liamuiga (RCL) welcomes dance groups to its first annual dance competition, “Dance Xplosion – This Is Your Chance2Dance!” 

     

    Eligible groups must have between two to six members ages 16-25. Groups will be required to perform choreographed routines in traditional and contemporary Caribbean and African genres and more. 

    Preliminary Rounds/Eliminations:
    EAST ZONE – Monday 27th August, 2012 – Cayon Primary Hall – 6 p.m. 
     
    BASSETERRE ZONE – Tuesday 28th August, 2012 – BHS Auditorium – 6 p.m.
     
    WEST ZONE – Wednesday 29th August, 2012 – Charles E. Mills Auditorium – 6 p.m.
     
    NEVIS ZONE – Friday 31st August, 2012 – Nevis Performing Arts Centre – 6 p.m.

    Finals:
    Saturday 15th September, 2012 – Carnival Village – 8 p.m.

    Over $5000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs!
    1st place – EC $3000; 2nd place – EC $1500; 3rd place – EC $500

    Over the past nine years, RCL has conducted/sponsored numerous programmes for the nation’s youth. These include local and regional Primary School Spelling Bee Competitions, Computer Assisted Literacy Solutions (CALS) Training Programme for primary and high school aged children, and primary and high school Talent Search Competitions to name a few. Dance Xplosion is our newest of these endeavours targeted at our youth’s development. 

    Application forms are available at www.rotaryliamuiga.org or facebook.com/rotaryliamuiga. Also available from Warner’s One Stop, Bird Rock and the Department of Culture, Victoria Road. Deadline for forms to be submitted is Monday August 13th, 2012.

    Proceeds from this event will go towards Rotary Club of Liamuiga youth and community development projects.
