BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DIS N DAT has done it again by capturing the Culturama Calypso crown for the ninth time, last evening, Saturday, (August 4).

He amassed a total of 581 points winning the crown against seven other calypsonians with his two songs ‘Calypso’ and ‘De Legal System’.

Many persons said that Dis N Dat was a clear winner in the first round with his tune ‘Calypso’ which they described as a masterpiece; it is about the declining state of the art form in Nevis.

In the first runner-up position was the youngest calypsonian of the night ‘De Inspirer’ who is also a former Culturama king.

De Inspirer amassed a total of 569 points with his songs ‘Age is just a Number’ and ‘My Plea’ while Pupa Wheeler placed second runner-up with 550 points.

His songs were ‘I am Busy Man’ and ‘Medal of Gold’.

The other calypsonians were Nutsy who sang ‘Political Melee’ and ‘Retribution’, I-Soursop with ‘Strong Black Woman’ and ‘Reason I Cry’ and De Enforcer with ‘There’s Still Hope’ and ‘Steel Pan Jamming’.

Defending king, Hollywood, was unable to retain his crown after singing ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘Come Good’.

The MC for the night was Calypso Reggie while the Grand Masters Band provided musical accompaniment for the calypsonians.

The Culturama celebration continues tonight with the Miss Culture Queen pageant when six young ladies will be vying for the crown.
