Charlestown Nevis (March 18, 2005) The Nevis Special Olympics Committee earlier today officially formed partners with Federal Express (FedEx) as they were the official carriers of several Jamaican Easter Buns, which the committee vends for proceeds towards the World Games 2007 in China.
The buns which arrived at the Vance W Amory International Airport by FedEx airline were handed over to members of the committee during a brief presentation ceremony. They expressed their gratitude to FedEx for jumping on board and making the shipment a reality.
Speaking to the Government Information Service, Mrs. Adella Francis, Principal of the Special Education Unit thanked FedEx for the role it played, and on behalf of the committee expressed her gratitude and hoped for a long lasting relationship. She said, I want on behalf of the Nevis Special Olympic Committee to express thanks to everyone involved for this wonderful gesture.
In presenting the buns to the committee, Mr. Ian Liburd, Acting Manager of FedEx commented that his company was very pleased to be associated with the Special Education Unit in Nevis. He noted that over the years, the company sponsored the Special Education Unit in St. Kitts with the shipment of the Easter Buns and thought it fitting to do likewise to the committee in Nevis.
Meanwhile, the Special Education Unit received a computer system and supplies from the Bank of Nevis Social Club on Thursday March 17. The presentation was made at the school and Principal Education Officer Mrs. Jennifer Hodge accepted the donation on behalf of the Education Department.
Education Planner, Dr Bronte Gonsalves and parents and students of the Special Education Unit were on hand to witness the donation.
