Three-vehicle accident on Newtown Bay Road

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MORNING routine for a number of persons were interrupted yesterday (Aug. 9) when a three-vehicle accident occurred along the Newtown Bay Road.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m., the incident – which involved a motor pickup, a motor omnibus and a motorcar – took place but thankfully none of the occupants of these vehicles was injured.

According to information received from the Traffic Department, the pickup PA7874 is owned by The Cable and was being driven by Esmond Hendrickson of Westbourne Street, the omnibus HA21 is owned by Lyndia McIntosh and was being driven by Gregory Skerritt of Newtown Bay Road and the motorcar PA3419 is owned by Nigel Erskin and was driven by Jaczlyn Ward of La Guerite.

SKNVibes understands that all the vehicles were travelling in an easterly direction with the pickup to the front of the chain when the incident occurred.

The Traffic Department indicated that according to their investigations, the pickup was travelling behind a motor jeep and when they were in the vicinity of Caribe Supply, the jeep signalled to make a right turn before coming to a halt.

The pickup reportedly also stopped, an action which was copied by the omnibus. It was further reported that difficulty was experienced when the motorcar collided to the rear of the bus, pushing it forward into the back of the pickup.

The front and the rear of the bus sustained some damage, and the back of the pickup and the front of the motorcar were also damaged.

    The incident is under investigation.
