Construction of a fourth bus shelter in St. Kitts by the CONTEC Group is underway.
This was disclosed Monday by CONTECs Managing Director, Mr. Lincoln Pemberton, who told the Communications Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM) that construction of the bus shelter has started in Dieppe Bay.

We have already constructed three shelters. One is on the road to Frigate Bay just outside the Fire Station, the second is at New Road and a third at Conyers, said Pemberton.

He said the CONTEC Group Bus Shelter Construction Programme emanated out of a need for such facilities at these locations and a well established initiative of the CONTEC Group to give back to society.

Mr. Pemberton said the bus shelters were constructed at a cost of between EC$65,000 and EC$75,000 each, using the Royal Plastic Technology, a technology similar to that used in the construction of the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort.

This technology is of extreme importance to our group as it allows for speedy construction and low long-term structural and exterior maintenance, said Mr. Pemberton.

He said the bus shelters play an important role in improving the aesthetics of the communities in St. Kitts, as well as fulfilling the nationwide drive of island beautification.

We therefore expect that communities and other beneficiaries, would ensure that the facilities are well taken care of and maintained, said Pemberton.
