BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST a few days after capturing the Miss Caribbean Culture Crown, it was announced that Trevicia ‘Barbie’ Adams will represent St. Kitts and Nevis in the Miss Jamzone International Pageant.

Adams, who won Miss Caribbean Culture on August 6, told SKNVibes in an exclusive interview that she was excited and looking forward to the pageant.

“I have been in the pageant industry for a few years and my goal is to always advance and push myself beyond the expectations to be deemed successful in pageantry. Miss Jamzone International is a highly anticipated pageant and I will be competing against some other ten contestants.

“With each having prior pageant experience and with one or two even representing their country in the Miss World Pageant so the standard of that show is indeed reputable. I have been working hard to ensure that I do my best, have fun and be successful,” she said.

Adams, who is a model and dancer, has entered several pageants including Miss Back to Roots and Miss Culture and the National Carnival Queen Pageant.

Her recent win is a testimony of hard work and determination as she said she was prepared for the stage even though she did not have much time to prepare.

“Entering the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant was a last minute decision as the Carnival Committee had assigned another contestant from the National Carnival Queen Pageant, who unfortunately, was unable to compete.

“They then had to resort to assigning me the duty of entering the pageant, with approximately one month for preparations. Being the Pageant lover that I am, I accepted without doubt or trepidation. In my opinion, I think I worked much harder than I did for the National Carnival Pageant as I now had less time to play around with.

After losing the crown in December, it was my motivation to become the winner of the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant. I think this Pageant was much harder as each contestant was not aware of who they were coming up against as compared to the National Pageant, where there is a 98% chance that you will know your competitor and their capabilities... the suspense is always the hardest part of a show,” she said.

The Miss Jamzone International will be held in Guyana on August 21, and Adams is scheduled to leave the Federation today, August 16.

Described as the most prolific pageant in Guyana, the pageant is hosted by Hits and Jams Entertainment Team and began in 2000.

Adams said that she would like to thank God for health, strength, knowledge and the courage to enter the pageants over the years.

She also extended gratitude to a number of persons who have been supportive of her including Randy Jeffers her employer and colleagues at the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union, Carib Brewery, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Sam T. Condor and family, Ian Rookie Phipps and the entire Party Central Family.

“My family, my mommy Merlese, my sister and biggest supporter Janet Johnson, my supporters and helpers including Halley Cassius my adviser, Nisharma Rattan-Mac, Onieka Jenkins, Violet Willams, Verlyn Williams, Kishorne Warde, Curtis Martin, E.K. Flanders, Calvin Tobias my costume designer and builder and all those persons whom I may have forgotten to mention but know that they were and are still a part of my team.”
