Fig tree hungry for return to championship glory

Kemo Shast Duncan during his college playing days
Press Release (SKABA)

BASSETERRE ST. Kitts, August 17th, 2012  --  The Fig Tree Dirt Revellers are once again in the Digicel SKABA  Premier Division Final Four after winning the regular season for the 2nd year in a row and are hungry for a return to the pinnacle of SKABA basketball. The former 2005 League Champions won all but two games for the entire season.

Their opponents  in the SKABA final four COUNTDOWN TO A CHAMPION are the multi-time champions Horsford’s Ghetto Roots who is one of only two teams to beat them during the season.

The Revellers will be led by veteran and former national team player Lyle “Dixie” Duggins  and George “Goolay” Gaton who both have  been the teams  best  all around players for the season.  Recenelty graduated college scholarship player Kemo “Shasta” Duncan is questionable for the playoffs as he suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season which kept him out for most of the 2nd round. It is unclear whether he will be accupying the middle for the team in the upcoming playoffs.

The success of Fig Tree has been as a result of their role players , particularly Delvin “Spreadout” Rouse.  Spreadout’s  wide body and exc ellnet movement in the paint has made him one of the most difficult players to defend. Compounding that is the fact that teams hardly ever pay him much attention as in most cases their focus is on the big man Shasta, the veteran Dixie and forward Devin “Jigga” Warner.

If Shasta returns to 100% and the players mentioned play to their potential Fig Tree would be a difficult prospect for any team to beat. However it must be said that the same can be said of any team in this yeas Final Four.

Fig Tree will be playing Horsford’s Ghetto Roots in Game 1 on Sunday at 6:30pm.
