Government Ministry receives US $30 000 worth of office equipment

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ON Friday (August 24) the Federation's government received a hefty donation from the Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) His Excellency Miguel Li-Jey Tsao.

     

    In a small ceremony held at the Taiwanese Embassy, US$30 000 worth of office equipment was officially handed over to the Ministry of Homeland Security, Foreign Affairs, and Labour.

     

    The equipment included desktops, laptops, fax machines, printers, telephones, projectors, external hard drives, cameras, televisions, and chain saws.

     

    His Excellency Tsao, before officially handing over the equipment, said that the Embassy was grateful for the opportunity to make the contribution towards a cause that would be beneficial to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

     

    "We are pleased to contribute towards this important venture of upgrading the Department. We are glad to be handing over this equipment to the Ministry to strengthen and enhance the service of the civil servants to the general public as well as assist with the effectiveness of the personnel of Foreign Affairs, the Labour Department and Homeland Security.

     

    "I hope that with the donation of this equipment, it will assist the public servants in carrying out their duties to provide sterling service and contribution to these beautiful countries." he explained.

     

    He extended his gratitude towards both the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas and Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Sam Condor, noting that this year marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.

     

    "The goodwill gesture from the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is embedded in the heart of Taiwan's people," he said.

     

    Minister of Homeland Security, Foreign Affairs, Labour and Social Security, Hon. Sam Condor, while thanking His Excellency Tsao, said that the Ambassador, along with the people of Taiwan, have assisted St. Kitts and Nevis in just about every aspect including housing, energy, sports, youth and education.

     

    Making reference to the Silver Jubilee Stadium as well as the refurbished Warner Park Cricket Stadium, Condor said that the people of Taiwan are committed to ensuring their expertise and resources are available to the rest of the world for the development of humanity.

     

    Condor assured him that the equipment would be put to good use as all items were well needed. He further noted that the partnership between the Federation and Taiwan would continue to bear fruit as they work together to make St. Kitts and Nevis a better place.

     

    His Excellency Tsao told SKNVibes that the items of equipment provided were brought from Florida and that the overall cost ranged between US$33 000 to US$35 000.
