Jamaican fined for passport alteration; four placed on bond

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SEVEN individuals recently appeared in the Magistrates’ Courts in St. Kitts and while three of them were fined a total of EC$11 600, the other four were placed on bond to keep the peace.

     

    A police press release issued today (Sept. 12) states that Jason George of Jamaica was convicted at the Sandy Point Magistrate’s Court for altering dates in his Jamaican passport which was stamped by St. Kitts/Nevis Immigration.

     

    The offence was committed between April 2010 and April 2012 and he was fine EC$5 000 to be paid in two months. If in default, George will be imprisoned for one month.

     

    Also appearing at the same Magistrate’s Court was Tasha Benjamin of St. Paul’s Village, who was convicted and fined EC$600 for threatening language committed on December 1, 2011. The fine is to be paid by September 30, 2012 or Benjamin will have to serve 30 days at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    The four persons placed on bonds are Shanice Liddie, Jermaine Isaac of Green Tree in Old Road, and Glenville Warner and Scott Warner also of Green Tree, Old Road.

     

    According to the release the four of them also appeared at the Sandy Point Magistrate’s Court, where Liddie was convicted for battery which was committed on December 12, 2011. He was placed on an EC$2 000 bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for a period of 12 months.

     

    The same conditions were meted out to Isaac and the Warners. However, while Isaac was convicted for malicious damage, throwing missiles and battery, which were committed on December 12, 2011, Scott was convicted for battery and Glenville was convicted for threatening language. Both offences were committed on December 13, 2012.

     

    And at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court, Disha Pemberton of Crab Hill, Sandy Point was convicted for larceny which was committed on Saturday, April 28, 2012.

     

    He was ordered to pay EC$2 400 compensation to the victim by Friday (Sept. 14) or spend six months in jail with hard labour.

     

    Pemberton was also fined EC$6 000, which is also to be paid by Friday, or be jailed for six months with hard labour.
