Rotary Club of St Kitts Joins 'Healthy Island Living' Group in Moringa Tree Planting Project

By: The Rotary Club of St. Kitts, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 4th, 2012  --  The Rotary Club of St Kitts joins 'Healthy Island Living', an initiative founded by Dr. Sybil Allen Jones and Dr. Christie Barron, in its Island-Wide Moringa Tree Planting Project.  The Moringa Tree, also known as the Tree of Life, is one of the richest natural sources of essential nutrients in the world.

This tree planting project is a way of making Moringa available to the various local communities.  On Saturday, 29 September 2012, trees were planted in nine (9) locations - along the Kim Collins Highway, and in McKnight, St Johnson's Village, West Farm, Challengers, Old Road, Verchilds, Sandy Point and St Paul's Village.  On Saturday, 6 October 2012, trees will be planted in seven (7) more locations - in Conaree, Keys, Cayon, Lodge,
    Saddlers, Parsons and Dieppe Bay.

As the Rotary Club's President Earle Kelly states, "the Rotary Club of St. Kitts is always willing to support projects which benefit the people of St Kitts and Nevis."  Healthy Island Living provided the Moringa plants.  Along with manpower, the Rotary Club of St. Kitts also provided funding and the steel protective cages for the plants.

Parks and Beaches provided employees to assist with the planting.  Mac Pennies Ltd printed 400 flyers which were, and will be, distributed in the various communities.
