BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO more men from St. Kitts were recently arrested and charged for burglarising a home at Hanley’s Road, Gingerland, Nevis, where a young man suffered grievous bodily harm.

According to a police release, Shanoy Valladares and Shane Amory, both of Lower Shear Lane, Basseterre, were each charged with two counts of robbery, inflicting grievous bodily harm and burglary; offences they allegedly committed in Nevis on Monday, September 17, 2012.

This media house learnt that the two men, along with Chad Williams of Central Street, Basseterre, are suspected to have held a young man at gunpoint, robbed him of an undisclosed sum of money and burned him in the process.

Investigations conducted by this media house revealed that the young man, who goes by the alias of ‘Bad’, was housekeeping for a family that was holidaying overseas.

It was also learnt that the family had returned to Nevis and during the wee hours of Monday (Sept. 17), three masked men had entered the home and demanded US currency from the occupants.

They failed in their bid to acquire what they wanted and subsequently tied up the young man, boiled some water and poured it in the region of his scrotum and also on his legs.

Following his ordeal, the young man was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he underwent treatment for his injuries and days after discharged from the medical institution.

Reports had stated that the bandits were from St. Kitts and this publication learnt that on the afternoon following the incident, a squad of officers from the Basseterre Police Station had apprehended one man who was said to be assisting them with their investigations into the matter.

The man turned out to be Williams and police indicated that he was charged with burglary early last week.
