Bus driver’s leg badly damaged in Friday morning accident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A traffic accident occurred this morning (Oct. 5) at about 6:25 a.m. involving two motor Omni busses in Halfway Tree.

     

    According to Police reports, officers of the Sandy Point police station are investigating the accident that involved H8261 driven by Wayne Grant of Challengers and H6470 driven by Kishmo ‘Mack 10’ Clarke.

     

    Both vehicles were said to be traveling from the Sandy Point direction towards Basseterre with H8261 at the front.

     

    They were about to overtake vehicles that were parked on the mountain side of the road and in doing so the driver, of H8261, Grant said he felt an impact on his bus and then he recognized that H6470 which was behind him had collided into his bus.

     

    It also crashed into a verandah of a house situated on the seaside of the road.

     

    The right frontal part of H6470 was extensively damaged and the driver was taken to the JNF Hospital where he is warded.

     

    Members of the Fire and Rescue Services were also called in to assist in removing Clarke from the bus.

     

    SKNVibes learnt that no passengers were injured however, Clarke was said to have suffered severe damage to his right leg.

     

    The early morning accident caused a traffic block in the area.
