I am going to stand up and say that I find this decision to be a wicked, spiteful act of a government that seems hell bent on bullying our people into accepting their full and total rule over us.  I am not afraid to say that I supported LABOUR but I am afraid that LABOUR no longer supports us.  Decisions of this nature are too blatant and mischievous to be ignored.

We have all been hearing about NATIONAL DEBT and in much the same way we were not consulted on many of the decisions made in the past that have contributed to the accumulation of said debt, so we are being locked out of the decision making process on how to address it.  This is not a Kingdom, ruled by one man or family, it is supposed to be a democratic nation where ‘free’ people supposedly live.  Why then are we constantly being RULED instead of consulted and when are we going to stand up as a nation and take back our rights.

I am a young person who is saddened every time I look around and see that many other young people are more concerned with their BB, shoes and what action going on this weekend, more than with what is happening to our country.  I am even more saddened when I see older folks who in the name of loyalty to a party or group are willing to forget what their parents and grandparents went through and turn a blind eye to wrong and allow the future of their children to be stolen.  I cannot express concern about the actions of our politicians however because they have acted in accordance with what they are; POLITICIANS.

This is a sad, sad time for the people of Sandy Point.  We have already lost the whole La Valley area and are now faced with the loss of this 500 acre plot of land, an area that runs the entire length of the town.  What it will do is essentially lock us to the shoreline and deny us access to our long value fruit trees and agricultural lands further up towards the mountain. To put things into perspective, Port Zante is around 24 acres in size while 500 acres are being lost by the community once more.   It is indeed a sad, sad day that the two towns in St. Kitts that are traditionally non LABOUR have been targeted for such a great loss.  Many of our farmers are already mourning the loss of such fertile land.  What has become of us? It is truly a time where everything that Bradshaw seems to have fought for is now being returned to the wealthy and ripped out of the hands of the commoner. It feels like a punishment and one that our children and grandchildren will have to endure.

There are lots of Sandy Pointers who have been trying for years to secure a piece of land and by the looks of it they never will. This law has essentially marooned the citizens of Sandy Point. No more lands for housing and certainly no lands for food, for the asking price that has been quoted is really too far out of the reach of most citizens.

Who will stand up for us?  Who will give a voice to our cause?  Where is the opposition? Where are the churches? How can this be allowed, are we so worthless that we can just be pushed aside and cast off without so much as an explanation or even consultation?  I guess to the LABOUR party we are nothing more than worthless stock to be thrown away.  No one seems to care for us so I guess we are now forced to take up our cross and start to care for ourselves.  We have no further choice but to take a stand, or we might as well roll over and die now.
