BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN an effort to bring sustained conscious and inspiring music into St. Kitts, the House of Judea Musical Foundation will be hosting an event called ‘Movement Rising’ on Sunday, October 28.

The event will be held in Dieppe Bay on Chapel Street.

According to one of the organisers, Ras Sankofa Lion, HJMF produced a CD also called ‘Movement Rising’ in 1999 which featured over 10 artistes.

“We started the idea of artistes performing. We weren’t following Jamaicans, we were following Rastafari. It was Rastafari artistes who were bringing a fullness and consciousness to the people in St. Kitts who are on the album.

“Back then the crime rate was very low and the movement is trying to bring back some of them old artistes that were very powerful on the scene,” he said.

He said the event would also feature some of the modern artistes who are bringing a loving and more conscious message in their music.

“Whether their music is about women or whether it is towards unity within the ghetto, that’s what we’re trying to promote,” Sankofa said.

He said some of the artistes would be himself, Ras Khalid, Ras Bamboo B, Ras TG, Nibal and Malbo.

“We are hoping to bring back most the artistes that were on the album. We’re trying to bring all the people together and build a bridge, between generation gap, between the old and the new, within the music industry and still within the community. The only way we can do this is through righteousness. Reggae came from consciousness so we’re bringing back the message of righteousness within the music and will continue to build on the art form.”

The event, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., will also feature bouncing castles for the children and an Agriculture Exhibition.
