BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IN an effort to bring further awareness to the Agriculture Sector, the Sandy Point Agriculture Co-operative Society Ltd. (SPACS) will be hosting its annual Food Fair and Agricultural Exhibition on Saturday (Oct. 13).

The Fair is being held in celebration of World Food Day (WFD), and SPACS is gearing up to have an action-packed day of activities at the Sandy Point Market.

The Fair will begin at 6:00 a.m. with the usual selling of a wide variety of local produce and agro-processed goods such as pumpkins, green bananas, dasheens, tanias, sweet and seasoning peppers, tomatoes, herbs and thyme while Ital dishes will be sold from midday.

Games such as 'guess the weight' will be played with raffles and giveaways throughout the day, while bouncing castles, horseback riding and Kevin's Animal Corner will be on hand to entertain the children.

The official opening ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. with an address by the Minister with responsibility for Agriculture, Hon. Timothy Harris.

Although the WFD's theme for this year is “Agricultural cooperatives – key to feeding the world”, SPACS has decided to host the Fair and Expo under the theme "Co-operative Societies build a better world".

As this year is being observed as International Year of Cooperatives, SPACS has decided to partner with the Department of Cooperatives to showcase what the different Cooperatives in St. Kitts do, and one of the highlights of the Fair will be a "Promote Your Business" segment where the Co-operatives will, one by one, describe their businesses, the services they offer and the benefits to the public.

A packed sideshow can be expected with performances by ITYC, Hot Rod, King Lala, Herbman and Faybo among others.

Special giveaways and promotions will be done, compliments the TDC Group of Companies.

Entrance to the Fair is free all day! SPACS invites the general public to come on down, show some support and take advantage of all that will be available, as they strive to bring fun and excitement to agriculture.
