BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A man is currently on trial at the Basseterre High Court for allegedly abducting a woman from her home on Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

The trial began this morning (Oct. 16) with Rhonda Nisbett at the head of the prosecution team while the accused, Rodelle Clarke, stands unrepresented.

Three witnesses are set to take the stand on behalf of the prosecution, including the victim and the investigating officer, as they attempt to prove that on the said date, Clarke entered the home of the victim while she was asleep and, holding her at knife-point, took her from there against her will.

After the prosecution rests its case, the accused would have the option of taking the stand and/or calling witnesses to give evidence on his behalf.

If convicted, Clarke could possibly be sentenced to serve 5 years at Her Majesty’s Prison.
