BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE ANNUAL Latin Festival kicks off today with three days of cultural fusion and fun.
The event is in its third year and today, Oct. 18, there will be a Latin American Movie presentation at Caribbean Cinemas.
On Saturday, October 20 at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel’s Plaza, there will be a Latin Flavour event featuring Latin Fusion and the main event will be held at Carambola Beach Club on Sunday, October 21, beginning at 2:00 p.m. featuring Ritmo Brazil and Batukealo.
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Brazillian’s Carnival’.
Last evening (Oct. 17) a Sponsors Appreciation Cocktail was held at The Embassy of Brasil where organizers of the Festival showed their appreciation to sponsors and contributors of the festival.
“Thanks for answering my calls and making this journey a great one,” said Michelle Demming, the Event Co-ordinator of the Latin Festival LLC.
Sponsors and other invited guests had their appetite whetted as they were told of what to look forward to this coming Sunday.
Some of the speakers included Ambassador of Brazil, His Excellency Miguel Magalhaes, Minister of Tourism, Richard Skerritt, Christopher Evelyn, General Manager of Carambola Beach Club and Chairman of Latin Festival LLC, Jose Rosa
The Festival’s main objectives are to enhance overall exchanges between Kittitians and Latinos on the island, to emphasize the similarities between Caribbean and Latin American countries and also to promote tourism and economic activities on St. Kitts and Nevis.
In addition it is envisioned that the Festival will create a consistent interchange of cultures between the people of different nationalities present at the events.
Apart from the amazing entertainment by Ritmo Brazil and Batukealo, there will be a salsa competition, a Cigar Roller, handicraft and a Rotisserie pork chef.
There will also be the launch of a Carnival troupe at the event with Fusion Fantasy by Kirah Griffin.
