Tru Capo continues to shine

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SINCE 2009, Nigel Lewis a.k.a. Tru Capo has been producing music videos for local artistes which have become some of the most talked about and most viewed videos to date.

Lewis, of Tru Capo Productions, has single-handedly produced top notch music videos for artistes such as Infamus, Nicha B and C-Money, and has pretty much done the script writing, shooting and editing all on his own for many years.

In a recent interview with SKNVibes he said he does not have a team together but there are persons he can call on who are willing to assist him whenever he needs it.

How has it been for him? Rough! But he is thankful for what he has accomplished so far.

He has come a long way from his first music video for artiste Jungles to where he is now.

“I did a count earlier in the year and counted over 60 music videos that I have produced so far.

“The industry is not really where I’d like it to be and there’s a lot more I could do but because of certain stuff I’m prevented,” he said.

But it is something that he loves and cannot see himself doing anything else.

“I have a passion for it; it’s all about creating a visual concept of a song, putting an artiste’s words into pictures, to be able to do that brings a great satisfactory feeling,” she said.

However, it was not what he wanted to do all the time. Lewis said that earlier this year he felt frustrated and felt like quitting.

“People started to encourage me not to give up and deep down I knew I couldn’t,” he said. I couldn’t stop. I usually would read a lot of success stories about persons going after their dreams and you just can’t give up on your dreams, you got to stay motivated,” he said.

Lewis said he is hoping to be a recognized name in film Caribbean wide one day. And how does he think he can accomplish that? By putting out a good product of course.

“It’s all about putting out a good product and marketing it well. There are a lot of people I look up to and I’m hoping to reach that far someday,” he said.

Apart from the music videos he will continue to produce, Lewis said he has a special project coming up that people are going to enjoy.
