ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, Ocotber 19th, 2012  --  As the Ministry of Communications and Works prepares for the re-opening of the Revitalized Crafts Alive Village, 70 persons, which include vendors of Crafts Alive and those that were located opposite of the cruise ship pier, participated in a capacity building training.

The workshop, which focused on product display and marketing, how the new market will be managed and financial protocols, was a strategic move by the Ministry to orient the vendors as well as give them tools that will facilitate change with how business will be conducted at the market.

According to City Manager, Mrs. Janis Braithwaite-Edwards the training was well received by the vendors who were heard commenting on the timeliness of the workshop and the positive impact it had on the participants.  “The vendors pledged to cooperate, shift their mentalities from seeing their businesses as just shops now seeing them as craft boutiques,” Mrs. Braithwaite-Edwards told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

From the perspective of the City Manager, Ms. Braithwaite said “The workshop was successful.  We were able to give the vendors more insight into the area of marketing and provide them with an opportunity to voice their concerns to create more viable options for training in the future.”  Mrs. Braithwaite-Edwards further explained that the new concept of how the village will be managed and financial obligations required for the effective operation of the village was positively accepted by all.
