BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 24th 2012 - Kittitian born poet, Neisha Tweed has received the 2012 ADCOLOR® Industry Coalition Rising Stars Award for her outstanding work as a multicultural professional in the advertising industry.
Ms. Tweed was honoured and recognized as a trailblazer and a torchbearer for her mounting talent, hard-working spirit, infectious laughter, and the way she continues to "Rise Up and Reach Back" in her professional and personal life.
Her passion for the industry came when Tweed saw what a well-crafted campaign could do. "The 'milk' campaign was the first thing that attracted me to advertising," the 29-year-old says. "As a vegetarian, I'm not a fan of milk, but I am impressed by the power of that campaign.so I thought 'Maybe I can actually inspire people to do good things."
She further noted, "We are responsible for the messages we send. Advertising has the power to change America , and we have to start by changing advertising."
As a black woman, Tweed knows the importance of inspiring and supporting those who may feel lost or left out, and out of her way to help others. She runs a blog, BabyFoodForCreatives.com that offers advice and inspiration for junior creatives and students. She taught at Miami Ad School and has been on panels about succeeding in the ad industry and believes in the mantra, "Ads should look more like America -colorful."
