BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A man who was standing trial at the Basseterre High Court was yesterday (Oct. 23) given a 10-2 guilty verdict for abducting a woman from her home on Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

The trial began on October 16 with Rhonda Nisbett-Browne at the head of the prosecution team while the accused, Rodelle Clarke, stood unrepresented.

The prosecution called three witnesses including the victim and the investigating officer to give evidence on their behalf.

According to the facts of the case, Clarke entered the home of the victim while she was asleep and, holding her at knife-point, took her from there against her will.

After the prosecution rested its case, the accused took the stand in an attempt to prove his innocence. Clarke also called one witness to testify on his behalf.

Now convicted, Clarke could possibly be sentenced to serve five years at Her Majesty’s Prison.
