Two charged for ganja possession
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A male West Farm resident was jailed for escaping lawful custody and a Sandy Pointer was fined for illegal drug possession, while police have charged six persons, including a juvenile, for various offences they allegedly committed during the past week.
According to a police press release, Troy ‘Zenon’ Williams of West Farm had appeared before a magistrate at the Sandy Point Magistrate’s Court for escaping lawful custody; an offence he had committed on April 15, 2012.
He was convicted and sentenced to 14 days imprisonment with hard labour at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).
Also at the Sandy Point Magistrate’s Court, Gerry Bryan of Fig Tree, Sandy Point was convicted for possession of cannabis, which was committed on April 27, 2012.
The magistrate ordered him to pay a $1 500 fine by Wednesday (Oct. 31), or if in default spent 30 days in prison with hard labour.
And at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court, Kadin Jeffers of New Road was convicted for failure to produce insurance and failure to produce driver's licence; offences he had committed on April 3, 2012.
Jeffers was fined $100 to be paid immediately or be confined to HMP for 14 days.
Meanwhile, the release indicated that Travis Ritchen was for a Friday (Oct. 19) offence of possession of cannabis, which he allegedly had in his possession at the Bay Road in Irish Town.
Also charged with possession of cannabis is a juvenile, whom police said committed the offence on Wednesday (Oct. 17).
For being armed with an offensive weapon on Thursday (Oct. 18), police have charged Akile Anthony of Cayon, while Sunil Liddie was charged for breaching a domestic violence protection order on October 18 and Dorette Mike of Lynches was charged for the offences of indecent and insulting language and annoyance, which he allegedly committed on Wednesday (Oct. 17) in St. Paul’s Village.
And for driving without insurance, Austin Duncan of Downing Street in Sandy Point was charged for the offence he allegedly committed in that Town on Friday (Oct. 19).
