LIME launches 4G with White Gala Night

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH of LIME 4G network was done in grand style with a White Gala Night at the Ocean Terrace Inn last evening (Oct. 24).

4G networks give customers higher data speeds allowing faster connections, quicker browsing and file downloads as well as faster access to apps.

LIME's General Manager David Lake, before the official launch, spoke of how pleased LIME was to be the one to introduce this advanced technology to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

"This evening LIME is proud to be the first to bring 4G voice and data service to the St. Kitts and Nevis. It is an exceptional rule to provide 4G in the key areas in our market and give customers the gift of a superior data service over our LIME 4G network."

LIME already has 4G in four other markets - Barbados, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Jamaica - but St. Kitts and Nevis is the first country in the OECS (Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States) to be graced with the advanced mobile technology.

The highly populated areas around the islands - Basseterre, Cayon and Sandy Point in St. Kitts and Charlestown and Gingerland in Nevis - have already been experiencing the newly upgraded network that offers super-speed data transmission on any 4G enabled devices.

"While the company continues its growth and development it is expected that customers will have more opportunities to get skilled 4G on their Smartphones, tablets, iPads and other data enabled devices," Lake told the attendees.

He said that with the upgrade to 4G, this would not impact the other devices that do not cater to the 4G network but noted that those with EDGE and 3G enabled smartphones would now see a vast improvement in data transmission as they would be carrying speed to the optimum level of the device.

"This means that they can now realise the full potential of their devices," he said.

HE continued: "We believe that 4G will change the landscape of mobile communication in our Federation and catapult us to the top ranking in the Caribbean Telecommunication industry".

Also speaking at the Gala was Minister with Responsibility for Technology Hon. Glenn Phillip who, before officially launching LIME's 4G network, congratulated them on being the first to bring the latest technology to the Federation and wished them continued success in the future.

Samsung Galaxy S3’s were given away to three lucky persons who attended the Gala while others were afforded the opportunity to purchase the latest handset along with other 4G enabled devices at up to 50 percent off.

The night continued with light entertainment.

The fun and excitement continues today (Oct. 25) with a Mini-Music Festival on Bank Street where live entertainment would be provided by Nicha B, Footsy, Pinocchio, Silk, DJ Ronnie Rascal, Grand Masters Band and the sweetest band in world - Small Axe Band from 2:00 p.m. until midnight.

All are invited to join in on the fun and experience data speed like never before.
