LIME 's 4G celebration continues

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IT was a Music Festival-like atmosphere on Bank Street last night (Oct. 26) as telecommunications giant LIME continued their 4G launch celebration.

For weeks not only LIME, but customers and potential customers have been talking about this new generation network that offers a speed of up to 60 times faster than EDGE or 3G, and it is now here!

The highly populated areas around the islands - Basseterre, Cayon and Sandy Point in St. Kitts and Charlestown and Gingerland in Nevis - have already been experiencing the newly upgraded network that offers super-speed data transmission on any 4G enabled devices.

The block party kicked off at 2:00 p.m. with live entertainment by magic fingers Ronnie Rascal, and as the crowd grew larger, giveaways and double bubble top-ups were on hand to greet the customers.

Customers also received massive discounts on selected 4G enabled Smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy 3S and Blackberry 9320.

Also coming out to celebrate with LIME were the young beauties from across the Caribbean who are in St. Kitts to compete in the Miss Caribbean Tourism Pageant that is slated to take place tonight (Oct. 27).

The beauties took time out to entertain the crowd by introducing themselves and invited all to come out and see them perform.

The celebration took ‘a pause’ as Minister with responsibility for Technology Hon. Glenn Phillip stopped by to once again congratulate LIME on their breakthrough and, along with LIME's General Manager David Lake, cut the ribbon signaling the official launch of the company's 4G network.

The celebration then continued with the sweetest band in the world Small Axe, Nicha B, Footsy, Pinocchio, Silk, and Grand Masters Band 'jamming' the crowd until midnight.

Customers and potential customers who are not yet familiar with the new network were welcomed to visit the LIME store on Cayon Street and ‘tamper’ in the 'Experience Centre', where 4G enabled phones and tablets would be on display and get a better understanding of the devices.

Lake previously informed that the new 4G network would not impact the other devices such as those that only cater to EDGE and 3G, but those smartphones would now see a vast improvement in data transmission as they would be carrying speed to the optimum level of the device.

St. Kitts-Nevis has become the fifth destination in the LIME territories to have the super-fast network - Barbados, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Jamaica - but the Federation is the first islands in the OECS to be graced with this new generation technology.
