Miss St. Lucia wins inaugural Miss Caribbean Tourism Pageant

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH a 155-point lead over her closest competitor, Miss St. Lucia Consuela Dupal last evening (Oct. 27) captured the Miss Caribbean Tourism Pageant.

     

    Taking the First Runner-up position with 2 231 points, was Jovanne John of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while Miss St. Kitts Trevicia Adams was adjudged Second Runner-up, Miss Anguilla Olufunmike Devonish Banks Third Runner-up, Miss Trinidad and Tobago Latia Drakes Fourth Runner-up, and the  Fifth Runner-up position went to Miss Antigua & Barbuda Shenique Barry.

     

    Miss St. Lucia, who is also a former Miss Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen winner, captured the Evening Gown Appearance while Miss St. Vincent captured both Talent and Swimwear segments.

     

    Miss Anguilla captured the Ambassadorial Appearance, the Avon Award and Miss Congeniality, while Miss Trinidad and Tobago won the Interview segment and the Chairman’s Award went to Miss St. Thomas USVI Teryssa Thomas.

     

    The show which was held at 17 Degrees got off to a late start, but once things got started it ran smoothly.

     

    The other contestants that competed were Miss Dominica Ameka Cognet, Miss Jamaica Chadale Smith, Miss St. Croix Deidre DuBois, Miss Curacao by Miluska Willems and Miss St. John Kinia Blyden.

     

    Miss St. Lucia captured the Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen in 2009 when she tied for the crown with St. Kitts’ Berriscia Byron.

     

    Dupal has a passion for the Tourism Industry and has completed a Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management and works as a Concierge/Sales agent at the Morgan Bay Beach Resort in Saint Lucia.

     

    She also has a keen interest in the field of Event Planning and Promotions and has established Sofyerie Promotions, which is said to be one of the leading promotional agencies on St. Lucia.

     

    Major sponsors for the pageant included Avon Cosmetics, LIME, LIAT and Timothy Beach Resort.

     

    The pageant was hosted by former National Carnival Queen Sudeakka Francis and Kupid of ZIZ, while GQ was the Masters-of-Ceremony and the house band was Royaltiez.
