Two men on trial for robbery...again

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO men are once again standing trial at the Basseterre High Court for robbery, an offence they allegedly committed on May 20, 2011.

David Payne and a juvenile are said to have robbed St. Clair Nathanial Gumbs of EC$647 while he was in his yard at New Road.

The trial began again this morning (Oct. 30) with the men being unrepresented.

The prosecution is expected to call two witnesses - the virtual complainant and the investigating officer - to give evidence, after which the men would be given the opportunity to testify and/or call witnesses to do so on their behalf.

The men were tried once before during the January 2012 Criminal Assizes which ended in a hung jury. The matter was then traversed.
