BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SIX men are scheduled to appear at the Basseterre High Court to learn of their fate on Thursday (Nov. 1). Three of them pleaded guilty while the others were convicted by a 12-member jury.

The men - Steadroy Scott, Rondel Hanley, Anthony Hodge, Kenneth Cordwell and two unnamed men - would appear before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas for sentencing.

Cordwell, Hodge and one of the unnamed men pleaded guilty at the opening of the September 2012 Criminal Assizes on September 25.

Corwell pleaded guilty to wounding Thiron Mulraine with intent to do grievous bodily harm on April 8, 2012 in Basseterre. He is also said to have unlawfully wounded the said person on the same date at the same place.

Hodge is said to have wounded Patrick Nicholls with intent to do grievous bodily harm on March 22, 2011 at Godwin Ghaut. He too is also said to have unlawfully wounded the said person on the same date at the same place.

The other male pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a female under the age of 16 at Phillips' Village on September 21, 2011.

Scott and Hanley were tried and found guilty during this Assizes, while the other unnamed male had his case heard at the May 2012 Criminal Assizes and was also found guilty by a 12-member jury.

Scott was convicted on one count each of unlawful wounding and wounding with intent of Kareem Richards, which was committed in Basseterre on December 21, 2011.

According to the facts of the case, at about 9:00 p.m. on the said date, Scott seriously wounded Richards with a knife on the Bay Road in the vicinity of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Following the incident, Richards had to travel to the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to remove a sharp object, which was part of the weapon that was broken and remained in his body when he was stabbed.

Hanley was found guilty of building breaking and larceny. He had broken into Island Food Grocery Supermarket warehouse at Upper Prickley Pear Alley on February 15, 2011 and attempted to make away with groceries to the value of EC$33,031.56.

The men, having completed their Social Inquiry Reports, are expected to be sentenced on Thursday.
