Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 31st 2012 - The National Association of Administrative Professionals (NAAP), St Kitts Chapter, convened its Biennial General Meeting on Tuesday, October 30th 2012 at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.  The main items on the agenda were the ratification of the constitution and bylaws, and the election of officers to serve the Association for the two-year term, 2012-2014.

Pastor Troy Watson, the guest speaker for the occasion, delivered inspiring remarks to the gathering before the votes were taken.  He shared the words of the Psalmist David recorded in Psalm 84 where the King expressed his preference to serve as a doorkeeper in God’s house rather than to dwell with the wicked.  Using this passage of scripture, he admonished the members to recommit themselves to making the Association better through service, and reminded the group that people were looking for something – good service!  As such, he encouraged the Association not to focus on the burden of work, but on the joy of service.

The following individuals were elected to the Board of NAAP for 2012-2014:
Dawn P Mills – President; Acklyn Blaize – Vice President; Karen Greene-Jeffers – President Elect; Diane Prentice – Secretary; Velma Merchant – Treasurer; Cassolis Richardson – Assistant Secretary; Karen Crossman – Nominated Member; Beverly Freeman – Nominated Member.  The Board is rounded out by two additional standing members, Consultants Claudia Williams and Lois Harris.

The National Association of Administrative Professionals (NAAP) was co-founded in October 1981 by Ms Lorna Edwards and Ms Imelda Wilkin, and celebrated its 31st Anniversary this year.  The culmination of the anniversary celebrations will be “Sweet Story in Sugar City” – An Evening with Paul Keens-Douglas, on Saturday, November 3rd at the ECCB’s Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium.  Sincere gratitude is extended to LIAT and the Ocean Terrace Inn for providing Mr Keens-Douglas air passage and accommodations respectively.

NAAP takes this opportunity to thank the business community at large and the public in general for their continued support of its projects and programs, and also to extend an open invitation to all administrative professionals who may be interested in joining the group.  The Association may be contacted via telephone at 869-669-6177 or by email at naapstkitts@gmail.com.
