BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – REPORTS reaching SKNVibes indicate that long-time Manager of Nu Vybes, David ‘Juni’ Adams is no longer a part of the band.
Speaking with Adams, he told SKNVibes that he would not confirm or deny the rumour.
He has been managing the band for over 10 years.
A source said they were aware that Adams was contemplating leaving the band “because things were becoming too hectic”, as his job requires him to be at every gig.
However, this media house learnt that he was allegedly dismissed from the band.
Persons close to the band are tight-lipped about the situation and this media house was unable to reach band leader Gregory ‘Mr. Mention’ Hobson for a comment.
Described as one of the top bands in St. Kitts, Nu-Vybes, a.k.a. the Sugar Band, was formed in 1987 by a group of five musicians who had a vision of bringing “new vibrations” to the scene.
Over the years they have had a number of hits, including ‘Street Style’, ‘Hand Signal’, ‘Indian Chant’, ‘Crazy Love’, ‘People’s Sugar’ and ‘Step Up’.
The band has won the Road March Title on five occasions - 1997, 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2006.
Fans of the band have cried out against the “unfair” judging of road march competitions, and the band came up with a creative slant stating “Road March outta style”.
Last Carnival, the band took it to another level for their fans, in terms of the criteria, when they released a tune called ‘Criteria’.
Now, with the possibility of Adams no longer being the manager and as National Carnival approaches, how would this affect the band’s album for this year?
This year the band its 25th anniversary and talks circulated that a special celebration is being planned.
