ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, November 1, 2012 - The Rainbow Children’s Home received a new ramp installed by the Rotary Club Sunrise to assist wheelchair bound occupants with easier access.The ramp was unveiled during the opening of the Autism Centre on October 29.
Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton told the Department of Information and Public Relations, “I am extremely pleased with this donation. It shows the vision and compassion reflected by the Rotary Club Sunrise to meet this need. I am heartened by this collaboration and the Ministry welcomes similar partnerships from private sector and community based organisations.”
In his remarks at the Autism Centre Ceremony, spokesperson for Rotary Club Sunrise, Mr. Richard Arthur said,
“The Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town has identified the installation of the concrete ramp at the Rainbow Children’s Home as its signature project for Vocational Service month. In particular, the project team led by Rotarian Colin Bramble and I, recognised the need to install the ramp primarily to assist two current occupants of the Home.”
Mr. Arthur thanked fellow Rotarians who assisted with the project, employees at the Rainbow Children Home and other sponsors who made the installation possible. The ramp was officially declared available for use with symbolic ribbon cutting by President of the Rotary Club Sunrise, Dr. Allyson Flax-Archer.
The Rainbow Children’s Home provides a caring, protective and therapeutic environment that will address the developmental growth and emotional needs of abused, neglected and abandoned children.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development aspires to provide leadership that promotes health, social wellbeing, and a safe environment as positive resources for living and sustainable development of the Territory.
