ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, November 2nd 2012 -- The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is the most important offshore financial services jurisdiction according to the 2012 report, Offshore 2020 - Opportunities and Challenges Facing the Offshore Industry, produced by OIL Offshore Incorporation.
The BVI beat out 25 other offshore jurisdictions to achieve the top position. In addition to its overall top ranking, the BVI also ranked first for asset protection and estate planning, individual tax planning, special purpose vehicles, and investment holding for corporations.
The report not only ranks jurisdictions by importance, but also examines how well offshore financial centres are measuring up to market challenges and global regulatory pressures. It also attempts to predict how these centres will fare in the next five years.
