ICCS Displays Lots of School Spirit!

By: ICCS, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 5th, 2012  --  The Immaculate Conception Catholic School just finished its 2nd annual Spirit Week These events sponsored by our Student Councils, are aimed at boosting school spirit amongst staff and students, while at the same time, raising funds for the Student Council to sponsor activities throughout the school year.

This year ICCS has two Student Councils, one primary and one secondary.  Elections took place in October and the first order of business for the Executive Officers was to plan the activities attached to this year’s Spirit Week.

Monday was Sports Day.  Students were encouraged to trade their school uniform for a sports uniform or clothing representing their favourite sporting activity.

Tuesday was Wacky Tacky Day.  Students were asked to turn the volume up on their school uniforms with wacky hair/hat, wacky ties and wacky socks.

Wednesday was Throw Back Day.  From the 1980’s onwards dress from a past decade.

Thursday was Class Colour Day.  Each grade level chose a color and wore that color with their uniforms.

Friday was the highlight in that it was dubbed Pajama Day!  Students were told to take their jammies off in the morning, only to get ready for school and to put them right back on!  Of course there were rules, all pajamas and night gowns had to be at least knee length, no sleeveless or short shorts/skirts.  Girls were asked to wear tights under nighties.  Bedroom slippers, sleep caps and head ties were welcomed.

Each morning, more and more staff, parents and students gathered at the entrance of the school to see what everyone was wearing to school.  No one was disappointed!  The participation was extremely high amongst staff and students, and spirits even higher.

On several days, male and female winners were selected at the primary and secondary levels and awarded tickets to Caribbean Cinemas.
