Waste truck skids, lands on side at New Road junction

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TOILET paper might not have been enough to clean the filth that could have covered the road during a traffic accident this morning (Nov. 6) that involved a motor truck used for human waste collection.

Motorists and pedestrians who would have traversed the stretch of road leading to the New Road area between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 this morning, would have observed a large truck perched on its left side at the junction of Tegreman Boulevard and the main road.

SGT Calvin Amory of the Traffic Department informed SKNVibes that, according to information he received from officers of the Stapleton Police Station, the vehicle P1539 –property of the Admiral Enterprises – was being driven by Jermaine Bristol of Sandy Point when the incident occurred.

He explained that he was advised that the vehicle was travelling towards New Road at about 5:00 a.m. and before it got in the vicinity of the Tegreman Boulevard and Main Road junction, it ran through some sand on the left side of the road and the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The truck, which this publication understands contained human waste matter, reportedly skidded and landed on its left side on the mountain side of the road.

SGT Amory said that in addition to Bristol, the vehicle carried another individual at the time of the incident and, thankfully, neither sustained injuries.

The authorities are making investigations into the incident.
