ST.GEORGES' Grenada, November 7th, 2012 -- Opposition As leader of the New National Party and Opposition Leader in Grenada, I want to congratulate President Barack Obama on a remarkable victory in the American Presidential elections.
Indeed many of our nationals, especially in the American North East and the Floridian Southeast share and support his dream of a better and stronger United States.
President Obama's victory has a strong lesson for us here in Grenada about the value of inspired leadership in a time of crisis.
President Obama has been able to build on his broad and exciting coalition of voters, and has brought renewed hope to America and the world with both his vision and leadership.
His victory also speaks to the power of democracy and the determination shared by people everywhere to be able to shape their own destiny.
We in Grenada share those same values, and inspite of the uncertainty of the recent months and the hiccups in our democracy, look forward with eagerness to exercising our own right to fashion a better future.
It was also significant, that in his victory speech last night, President Obama emphasized the need to work across party lines to help solve the problems of his nation; and about the need to set the right political tones.
Certainly we have listened and learnt -- and sincerely hope our government must come to understand too -- that small politics will never solve our big problems.
Indeed any future NNP administration will set a new tone of co-operation and reasonableness, using our best efforts to work with all sectors to tackle to great challenges that face us as a nation.
