(EMU) – St. Kitts, Nov 8th, 2012 -- Independence Square is expected to come alive with action on Friday November 16th as students from schools throughout St. Kitts take part in the grand finale of Drama Week which is a Ministry of Education initiative and the brainchild of local playwright Moses Byron.
Drama Day which will feature the schools combining for what is expected to be a thought provoking production of creativity and talent that will feature drama in its various expressions.
The activity which starts at 9 a.m. on Friday is one of several events planned for the week which will officially open on Sunday November 11th with and address by Minister of Education and Information Hon. Nigel Carty.
Also scheduled for the week are talks in schools, tag day and poetry competitions all with a view of raising awareness among youth to society’s social ills.
Mr. Byron said he hoped the activity would become an annual event serving two purposes which include a rebirth of excitement for the arts and its valuable benefits as well as a vehicle for messages that youth need to learn.
He added that the youths have been working feverishly in preparation for the week’s activities and competitions and that the planning committee anticipates a successful event
