BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FLAIR MODEL AGENCY is back on the scene and ready to publicly show off its stylish comeback on Sunday (Nov. 11) with an event dubbed ‘Mannequin’ at 17 Degrees, located on Victoria Road.

Founder and brainchild of the agency, Mikieda Franklin, during an interview with this media house, informed about the event’s twofold aspect, which would see a model fashion show and also a graduation ceremony.

The 14  models of the agency are all expected to ‘strut their stuff’ during the event which will feature a number of  local, regional and international  designs; showcasing Franklin’s Itsybitsy Swimwear, while other pieces to be sported are from Riff Raff clothing, Les Creations Essentielle and Keliroy Clothing.

The age range of the agency’s models is 18 to 24.

Franklin disclosed that a total of nine models – six females and 3 males- would be graduating after having successfully completed an intense 12-week training course.

These models have been a part of the agency for almost one year to date.

Admission is EC$30 for adults and EC$20 for children. The show starts at 6:00 p.m.

As revealed, funds would go towards raising much needed monies to assist models in participating in the New York Fashion Week.

SKNVibes notes that Flair Model Agency first came about back in June 2007 and one year has passed since reemergence.

‘Beauty, Talent and Passion…Illuminating’ is the agency’s motto.

Commenting on how the models were recruited, Franklin pointed out that some of them were referrals while some sought out the agency’s online information for themselves.

Questioned about the reemergence of her agency and what difference is there when compared with the past, Franklin said: “At first, our vision was not as clear.”

She was however quick to highlight that the agency is now “refocused” and its mission is “Celebrating, Empowering, Entertaining and supporting young individuals of the Caribbean. We take that Caribbean ‘uniqueness’, develop upon it and launch it with all the flair and pizzazz that we are known for to the world”.

Franklin talked about the 12-week training course called ‘Model Elite’ which encompasses six modules.

She noted that aspiring models are trained in both theory and practical subjects that address all aspects of the industry.

Franklin explained that the specific modules are: Model 101; Image Development (with sub-topics of Wardrobe Management, Skin/Health Care and Make up Application);  Communication; Fashion Performance and Runway Skills; Essentials of Still Photography; and Showcase Management.

As it relates to the aspect of ‘flair’, Franklin expressed that there is a “spark” or “added extra” that each aspiring model possesses.

She emphasised her agency’s desire of harnessing the physical and inner beauty, encouraging and developing the talents possessed and igniting and nurturing the passion hidden within.

Included on Sunday’s entertainment line-up are upcoming dancehall sensation VYBZ with his popular jam ‘Party on the Weekend’, as well as Charles ‘Charlie’ Emmanuel. In addition, ‘REA’ will be introduced.
