BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ST. KITTS AND NEVIS football has seen a mark improvement in its FIFA Rankings, rising to the Federation’s best ever rankings.

According to the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking released on Wednesday (Nov.7), St. Kitts-Nevis rose to achieve a rank of 106.

St. Kitts and Nevis climbed 16 places following a ranking of 122 in the previous edition of the Rankings that was released.

The ranking means that the Federation has risen to 13th in the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) region and also to fourth in the Caribbean Football Union only behind Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti, but also ahead of the likes of Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda , Grenada and Barbados.

The biggest movers in the CFU however was St. Lucia, which jumped 39 places from 185 to 146, while the Federation’s neighbours Antigua and Barbuda dropped 15 places from 106 to 121.

The St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association has made it clear that its aim is to achieve a world ranking below 100, which would afford young footballers the opportunity to acquire professional contracts from teams overseas.

Officials of the SKNFA have thanked everyone who contributed to the success of football in the Federation and hope that they would continue working with them for the development of the sports discipline.
