BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 14th 2012 - Annual elections were held in October 2012 to select an Executive to run the affairs of the Sandy Point Benevolent Society for the year 2012-2013. After a very successful year 2011-2012, under the leadership of President William V. Hodge, the membership decided to elect a new President in the person of Dr. Mervyn (Pluto) Richardson. Mervyn is a 1976 graduate of the Sandy Point High School and presently resides in the New York area.
The Executive is as follows:
Charles Mills.....................Chairman
Mervyn Richardson..........President
William V. Hodge.............Vice President
Collette Joseph...............Secretary
Trevor Hanley..................Assistant Secretary
Trevor Duggins...............Treasurer
Anthony E. Warner.........Assistant Treasurer
Stewart Williams.............Public Relations Officer
Veronica Assent.............Assistant PRO
The new executive is already busy planning its activities for the upcoming year with the hope of adding more fundraisers to the three they already have: the Easter Breakfast, the Annual Cruise Raffle and the function to attend, the Annual Banquet and awards ceremony.
The new chief executive in his acceptance speech thanked the outgoing executive for leading the group for a successful past 2 years under the able leadership of its immediate past president, Mr. William V Hodge. He also thanked the immediate past vice president Mr. Alrick V. Warner for his unselfish contribution to the group since its inception. Mr. Warner’s professional commitment and hectic travel schedule prohibited him from assuming his usual active role in the group. On behalf of all, Dr. Richardson conveyed best wishes to Mr. Warner, noting that his contributions would be noticeably missed.
As he closed his acceptance speech, the incoming President, Dr. Richardson encouraged all to motivate inactive members to re-commit themselves to group’s mission of strengthening our home town of Sandy Point and its environs (Newton Ground, St Paul’s and Half way Tree) via our unswerving support for Educational Institutions and Positive Youth Activities.
