Brooklyn marijuana dealer donates drug money to Hurricane Sandy victims

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WHILE some big businesses in the United States of America (USA) are shunning away from dishing out ‘dough' to assist those States that were adversely affected by the passage of Hurricane Sandy, a Brooklyn, New York marijuana dealer has taken it upon himself to donate a portion of his proceeds towards this cause.

According to an article published yesterday (Nov. 14)  by The Huffington Post Crime (THPC), a drug dealer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, donated half of his earnings made over a two-day period toward purchasing food and supplies for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Rockaway, Pennsylvania.

The dealer, as reported by the THPC, said he is not concerned about the implications of turning drug money in to supplies for the needy in that area - some of whom are reported still without electricity supply - but he just wanted to do his part, and managed to raise some money for the cause.

"Look, there are probably some people down there [in the Rockaways] who want some marijuana, but that's not going to clothe and feed them. So in order for me to help, I needed to turn what I do into something concrete that I could give to them," he was quoted as saying.

Described as a college-educated individual, the dealer said his decision to give half of his two-day funds came about after he saw the damage that was done to Breezy Point, New York where it was reported that some 80 homes were flooded and burned to the ground.

THPC said the dealer alerted his clientele last Monday (Nov. 5) that he would be donating, and the calls started coming in.

The media house also stated that the dealer claimed to have made $1 400 over the two-day period, $700 of which would go toward hot meals, diapers, formula, clean water and other supplies that people on the Rockaway Peninsula are still in need of.

THPC said they confirmed the dealer's purchase of 50 wool blankets that would likely go to residents who are still without power.

"Yes, I made a little extra money for myself those two days, but [my clients] are getting something they'd already get anyway. I was going to work regardless, and now I felt like I was doing it with purpose...I'm not doing what I do in order to get rich or create some super marijuana empire. I'm trying to help, and this is my job," he was quoted as saying.

THPC reported that the dealer said when he is not pushing drugs, he would put on his snow boots and help with the transport of relief goods, assisting in any way he could.
