BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ARE you ready for St. Kitts-Nevis National Carival dubbed Sugar Mas 41?

Last Saturday night (Nov. 10) , this reporter interacted with members of the public following the Sugar Mas official launch on Bank Street.

That question was put to a few attendees at the event. Individuals were asked to say what they like about Carnival.

Additionally, persons were asked to render some advice to those taking part in the festivities, and to spectators also.

Here is what they had to said.

Vesha  and Jovana: “Yes we are ready for Carnival. It’s fun and we enjoy. It’s a time when everybody comes together as one and so it’s a good time to communicate with each other. We would like to encourage everyone to come out…no fighting just love and unity.”

Alisha Elliott and Cleo Woodley: “What I like  are the costumes and the music that the bands play. I also like how people dress up so beautifully in the Carnival costumes and also those in their own clothes.

Chest (member of Kollison Band): “Yes, I’m ready for Carnival. It’s a very fun thing but a very tiring thing too. All I want people to do is come out. Nobody fight or hurt anybody; just come out and enjoy yourself.”

Ras DV (member of Kollision Band): “Carnival is fun and still a time for exercising at the same time when people are coming out to enjoy themselves.”

Derrick Francis (Mas player): “I’m ready from since the last one finished. I like the shows, J’Ouvert and parading in the troupes. I will have to say this to people taking part in the troupes and J’Ouvert to come out and enjoy themselves, to drink responsibly. In my opinion, it needs more people to partake in Carnival because more participation means it will be much better. If you are not taking part just come out and enjoy.”

Kimone Amory: “No, I’m not ready for Carnival. I’m not feeling the vibes. I have my young child and so I’m not into the partying.”

Larissa Mills, Adesa Hazel and Casandra Dias: “Yes, we are ready for Carnival. We are looking forward to J’Ouvert and Las’ Lap and the other parties like Party Central. We are glad to take a break from school and ease our minds and enjoy Carnival in St. Kitts. It is the best place to be for Christmas.”

Marnie and Angel: “Yes we’ve been ready for Carnival since Las’ Lap 40:40. Now we are ready for Sugar Mas 41. We like the troupes, jamming and the Carnival music. People come out in your numbers and enjoy Carnival. Come out and release your stress if you have any”.
