ST. GEORGE'S Grenada, November 17th, 2012  -- The Leader of the New National Party Dr Keith Mitchell welcomes the ascendancy Thursday of Mr. Xi Jinping to the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

We also congratulate the Communist Party for a highly successful conclusion of its Congress. We look forward to Mr. Xi’s leadership not only in China but in the global sphere as China continues to play a vital and leading role in world politics and economics.

The New National Party has had a respectful and fruitful relationship with the Communist Party of China, which is expected to be continued and deepened under the new leadership of Mr. Xi.

It was under a New National Party government that Grenada had moved to expand ties with the government and people of China, which has since been maintained. It is a testament of the depth of this relation, based on mutual respect, that it has been maintained by successive governments.

The New National Party will be sending off an official letter of congratulations and best wishes on this exciting political development in Beijing through the Chinese Embassy here in St George’s.
